Consulting
Whether you need a preliminary risk analysis or require complete no-strike protection, our services are aligned to provide the reliable information you need to fully understand your current situation and move forward with confidence.
Step 1 - Risk Assessment
One or more LEC consultants will visit your site and study a number of key areas. This visit can range from a one day study for simple sites, to a comprehensive multi-day study for large sites with complex electrical systems. Overall cost is based on the scope and complexity of your particular needs.
What’s Involved?
- Identify areas of concern and desired level of lightning protection
- Assess vulnerabilities from direct lightning strikes and the effects of nearby strikes or other transient surges:
- Review past lightning events
- Examine existing lightning protection and TVSS systems
- Review existing structures, electrical, communication, and data systems
- Perform Ground Testing as needed
- Gather information on site-specific factors such as:
- Local lightning and storm data (isokeraunic number, flash density data)
- Environmental variables such as wind and ice loading
- Corrosive elements encountered on site
- Existing structural designs and restrictions including aesthetic requirements
- Site topography

Step 2 - Recommendations & Proposal
Following risk assessment, you will receive a comprehensive consulting report which includes recommendations and budgetary information. As with the time our consultants spend on-site, the report’s level of detail is determined by the scope and complexity of your particular needs.
What You’ll Receive:
- Lightning risk analysis
- General recommendations for lightning, grounding, and surge handling as necessary
- Specific recommendations for an integrated lightning system:
- Parts list, specifications, and statement of work (customized information is available to meet internal requirements)
- Conceptual or detailed drawings reflecting the proposed work and parts required
- Cost estimates for the proposed system
